Its been quite an eventful week in NYC in the last few days, what with fashion week and the VMA”S ( don’t get me started on Kanye, love him, and strongly dislike Taylor Swift, however rudeness and arrogance is never justified and Kanye is certainly NOT beyonce’s spokesman.
dumb. ass. behavior.
Anyway its all been a little crazy here, plus my hotel and its internet have a bad relationship so it takes me 2 hours to upload anything! argh.
When i arrived in NYC on Thursday 10th i wrote this little paragraph, felt the need to share it with you guys
NEW YORK IS BEAUTIFUL! I think that’s a pretty apt sentence to start with. What I love is that when you drive in from the airport the tall, almost frighteningly overbearing but rather beautiful buildings entice you into the gates of the city, but the two beams of light where the twin towers once were remind you of how delicate and vulnerable this city really is.
Anyway, enough poetry. An hour later and Jet lag or not, it was time for my DJ set at the Dressing room Boutique and bar, which is on the road where all the cool boutiques have set up home- Orchard Street, downtown NYC. I loved the gig, they even put a sign outside with DJ SARAH YOUNG scrawled across it ☺ – albeit in chalk.
Fashion’s night out there were like a million parties going on, but couldn’t help but post this pic of Rhianna looking amazing. Im really loving this new Lady Gaga esque style on her!

I got invited to a fashion presentation at the cool Tribeca Grand Hotel downtown. The designer was Katie Gallagher, ( after trying really hard to get a cab and after 20 mins finally hailing one ( what is up with these cabs in NYC??!)

Erin Wasson + RVCA show at Bryant Park which was a total shift in mood. There was a lot of buzz around this event, and before I slipped backstage to take a few shots of the models getting ready, and I was met with a scene from one of those end of the world disaster movies. It was one hot mess! So I dashed out to my seat and 15 mins later the models glided down the runway as if none of the chaos had happened. The overall look of the show was sexy grunge tomboy. Every piece was very wearable, beautifully cut, and had interesting little details such as fringing, metal studs, and cut aways.

METAL MAGAZINE PARTY
A little bit of London cool in NYC. DJ guests included, Jethro Cave, and Peaches Geldof. plus an open bar from 9-10! That would have been great if my girl Jess and i hadn’t been running an hour late the whole week! Anyway party was super fun with plenty of shoreditch regulars lurking in corners. I AM HATING ON….”ABBEY” BY AVIL LAVIGNE.
I swore to myself i wouldnt dedicate any column inches to this show. And generally i only try to be positive, but i really must say throughout this collection i felt like i could have been violently sick at any given time. Avil Lavigne has discovered her ”inner designer” and created a ‘junior lifestyle brand’- Junior?? lifestyle?? What kinda lifestyle ? ‘ rock chic’?- What does that even mean? Anyway, the whole thing was a joke and i considered turning and running for my life screaming, but then i bumped into Tommy Hilfiger and he said he thought i looked ‘cute’ SO, with a big smile on my face i stayed, trying not to punch the mother of one of the precocious pre teen models when she pushed me out of the way and stormed up to the PR saying ‘our agent said we would have a front row seat’, to the blunt reply of . ‘NO. You are actually standing.’ Below is a pic of lovely Tommy, if your reading this, thankyou for making this otherwise traumatic experience, pleasant ( what really did it for me was when the models made ‘rock’ style signs at the end of the runway’) PUKE. uh oh.
