FASHION + MUSIC + ART OFFICIAL TOP 10 FOR 2010

ROX

At 21, Half Iranian, Half Jamaican musician Roxanna Tataei is bringing conviction to your sound-system with her debut album “Memoirs”. After an elegance performance on “Later with Jools Holland”, she is carving her way in the music industry and is set to be a house hold name in 2010. Having started writing her debut album in America she returned home to work with friend Al Shux, who’s credits include Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind”, to create this beautiful album with lyrics that strip down to her raw emotions. The BBC have even dubbed Rox as the one to watch for 2010. Previous artists in this list have included international successes such as Lady Gaga!

Jonny Makeup

After following his dreams to New York City, Jonny Make-up became part of the NYC club scene’s favourite hip-hop trio the ‘VIP Party Boys’. However, nothing good lasts forever so , with a very public split on the Tyra Banks Show in 2008, he has since become an internet sensation with his much viewed blog. Whilst fans include Beyonce Knowles and Roseanne Bar, his solo career has taken off and he is now part of the world renowned brand America Apparel. Penning his debut album and writing for Missbehave Magazine, as well as being the full time BFF to Peaches Geldof and designer Jeremy Scott. Fun, frivolity, irony and Legally Blonde type intelligence, Jonny Make-up is the official antidote to the depressing credit crunch. With his 2010 plans extending to conquering London Fashion Week with extra secret projects, he is set to officially cement his name in the fashion industry once and for all.

As part of the ‘Plantain Collective’, Duval Timothy is creating waves in the underground arts scene. A Central St Martins and Beaux Arts student, his work speaks for itself. Encompassing sculpture, invention, painting and digital art his eclectic style has got the art world talking. Having had his work exhibited in the Sasson Gallery already as well as maintaining an online gallery/portfolio on the Saatchi website, he is the only artist on our list and someone you should follow!

DEAN QUINN

Inspired by Blade Runner, Dean Quinn’s graduate collection went down a storm earlier this year at the Central St Martins showcase show at LFW for which he won the womenswear designer of the year 2009. With celebrity fans including Rihanna, this young designer is set to be huge in 2010. Using 3D glass beads as a visual link throughout the collection, the highly structural tailored pieces, reassert femine power. He will be presenting his next collection at London Fashion Week and it promises to be the one to watch. For Quinn, I predict he will follow the foot steps of designers such as Hussien Chalayan in terms of teaming up with brands such as Puma and Adidas on future collaborations and defusion lines. Maybe. :)

SBTV

SBTV is nothing less than an underground youtube channel sensation! With over 7 million video views and an average of 100 thousand hits per video.  Jamal, from Acton, London, is not some big boy producer or editor that has retired from a job say at mtv and decided to go it alone, he is a 19year old teenager who through growing up around The uk’s  most talented MC’s, and obsessing over youtube, decided he could created something much better than any of the videos he was watching and therefore started SBTV. Documenting freestyles and exclusive interviews from the biggest names in grime such as JME, Griminal, Skepta, Kano, BBK, and Tinchy Stryder, he has firmly established himself as THE young filmmaker to watch for 2010. He exclusively revealed to iamsarahyoung.com that future plans include expanding SBTV to international territory. World better hold tight because even if you don’t dig uk urban music, SBTV is coming to a screen near you!
