So any one that knows me knows that i love my watches and bling, and Watch brand ‘Rado’ have raised the bar which their new watch concept, i’m thinking this might just be at the top of my christmas list this year!
Rado who are famous for their winning combination of materials that are aesthetic, hypoallergenic, heat resistant , ultra hard and scratch resistant are the dons who brought this material to the watch making industry and developed it into the material of the future. Having pioneered the use of super duper high-tech ceramics with the first ceramic serial produced watch collection Integral, in 1986, the first full-ceramic watches ‘Sintra’ and ‘conic -Rado Ceramica are the latest award-winning design collection r5.5.
If that ain’t enough, now, Rado have created another industry first, the Ceramic Exhibition.
As part of this a one off insight is given into how their award winning timepieces are produced. The Ceramic Exhibition takes the watch back to the beginning of its life. The unique exhibition is a clear step by step demonstration of the high tech ceramic process – from the powder to the product, showing the complexity of the use of this material.

And for all you watch geeks out there that wanna know the process. The initial step involves the standardization of the ultra fine ceramic powder. To this a binding agent is added, along with pigments that give the ceramic its color, to form the granulate. Melted and then accurately injected into a mould, the shape of the watch is defined. The material undergoes the sintering process wherby it is heated to below its melting point and reaches its actual size and hardness. Diamond tools must be expertly used to treat the surface of the case until ready for the final assembly. Each step strictly adheres to the exacting high quality standards that Rado demands.
The ultimate result is a scratchproof, durable, non-allergenic and luxurious timepiece with a unique design. Like the sound of that i must say!
Following on from its successful introduction at Milan’s Zona Tortona Design Fair, Rado is now making its Ceramic Exhibition a permanent fixture in stores across the globe!
Be taken on a journey with the high-tech material that Rado have pioneered and perfected for the last 20 years! Unrivalled knowledge. Unlimited Spirit. Rado is da thing trust me!
