What to wear when cycling is always something i struggle with, do i go practical and wear high vis to avoid being knocked off by all the psycho bus drivers, or do i just wear what i want and risk ending up with my skirt up around my head and my shoes all scuffed? Cycling gear aint exactly my first choice of outfit when going riding, however having discovered that Paul Smith and Rapha have joined forces to launch a collection of high fashion cycling clothes and accessories, this made me curious to find out more!
Building over two seasons, the collection will feature products that are inspired by road racing and designed specifically for city riding- the later perfect for me!
The Autumn collection combines leading technical fabrics and details with striking colours and polka dot patterns. Patches and panels in high visibility pink continue a new visibility approach featuring on Rapha’s core line of city riding products this autumn. The phrase ‘Freedom of the open road’, in Paul Smith’s hand-writing features as embroidery on key pieces. I personally love the cap in polka dots, its old skool enough to be fun and cute, but has next seasons colour palate. No trace of geeky cyclist at all! lol.
The collection this season comprises of six key items including; a City Rain jacket, jersey and luxury cycling accessories. This capsule range will be extended further next spring with additional jerseys, trousers and accessories and with Paul Smith himself promising that ‘The collaboration for next year will be extended to include more items.” we should all expect to see the cyclists of London looking less geek and more chic!
